Away Bigger Carry-On vs Monos Carry-On Pro (2026)
If most of your flights are on Delta, United, American, JetBlue or Alaska, the Monos Carry-On Pro is the one of these two worth considering: Monos lists it at 22 x 14 x 9 in with the wheels, exactly the limit those airlines publish, so it is a borderline fit with nothing to spare. The Away Bigger Carry-On is 23 x 15.4 x 9.4 in, over on all three sides, and belongs with people who mostly fly Southwest or pay for Frontier’s carry-on, where it fits and holds 13 liters more.

Which Airlines Each One Fits
Away and Monos both publish the exterior with the wheels counted, and the US airlines, British Airways, easyJet, Air France and KLM say they measure that way; Lufthansa’s and Ryanair’s pages do not say, so the table uses the same figure. A hardshell gives you no squeeze to bargain with at the sizer.
| Airline and limit | Away Bigger | Monos Carry-On Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Delta, United, American, JetBlue, Alaska: 22 x 14 x 9 in | Over by 1 in, 1.4 in and 0.4 in | Borderline, exactly on the limit |
| Southwest; Frontier paid carry-on: 24 x 16 x 10 in | Fits | Fits |
| British Airways; easyJet large cabin bag: 56 x 45 x 25 cm | 2.4 cm too long | Borderline, 0.1 cm spare on length |
| Lufthansa: 55 x 40 x 23 cm | 3.4 cm too long, 0.9 cm too deep | 0.9 cm too long |
| Air France, KLM: 55 x 35 x 25 cm | 3.4 cm too long, 4.1 cm too wide | 0.9 cm too long, 0.6 cm too wide |
| Ryanair Priority: 55 x 40 x 20 cm | 3.4 cm too long, 3.9 cm too deep | 0.9 cm too long, 2.9 cm too deep |
The Bellroy Transit Carry-On 41L, the third case in our carry-on luggage guide, is also Borderline at the US majors, but it sits a tenth of an inch under on length and depth rather than exactly on the line. Wizz Air does not count wheels or handles, so neither maker’s published size settles its Priority bag. For any airline not in the table, the compliance checker runs either case against 18 airlines.
Round by Round
49 liters against 36. The space costs you the US majors, since the Away is bigger on every side.
The Monos has a padded front compartment that Monos says takes a 16 in laptop, with three pockets and three zip pouches beside it, so the laptop comes out without the case being laid open on the belt. The Away has no outside laptop pocket.
A tenth of a pound apart, 7.8 lbs for the Monos and 7.9 for the Away with its battery in.
The Away comes with an ejectable battery for charging a phone at the gate. Monos lists none for the Carry-On Pro.
Away’s LifetimeCare, despite the name, is five years of free repairs, plus one replacement if covered damage cannot be repaired. Monos calls its coverage a limited lifetime warranty, and without its terms set beside Away’s we are not scoring this one.

- You fly Delta, United, American, JetBlue or Alaska and accept a fit with no margin
- You also fly British Airways or easyJet with the large cabin bag
